Keopu Coffee is a small organic farm in the Keopu-Mauka, Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our 5 acre organic Kona coffee farm is located at 2200 feet of elevation on the slopes of Mount Hualalai. Here the climate is ideal for growing premium quality, organic Kona coffee. In addition to the organic 100% Kona coffee that our farm produces, we also offer conventionally grown 100% Kona coffee that is grown on other small Kona coffee estates in the Keopu area. This conventionally grown Kona is also of the highest quality, and it is purchased as raw coffee fruit fresh from the fields. It is then processed with the same care and quality control as our homegrown, organic Kona coffee.
Keopu Coffee farming started as a hobby. In 1998 the Gillette family planted an acre of Kona coffee on the family estate, here in Holualoa, (Kailua-Kona, Big Island, Hawaii). Our Kona coffee was originally only used for family gifts and personal use until 2005, when Keopu Coffee was created, and we began marketing and selling our coffee locally. Another 5 acres of Kona coffee was planted in 2007 as the business had quickly outgrown the original acre. During the fall and winter of 2006 we also built our own mill for the processing and drying of the raw coffee fruit, known as Coffee Cherry.
